These fun and tasty Nutella Banana Muffins feature a fluffy and buttery banana muffin with Nutella inside and swirled on top!
These fun and tasty muffins have just the right amount of creamy Nutella in every bite. If you haven't tried it yet, banana and Nutella together is SUCH a good combination. Nutella also goes well with Oreo cookies as in my recipe for Nutella Oreo Cheesecake Bars! If you are a big fan of Nutella, be sure to try my Nutella Rice Krispie Treats.

⭐️ Why You Need to Make This Recipe
- Flavor - Chocolate, hazelnut, and banana are such a delicious flavor profile!
- Texture - These fluffy and soft banana muffins are the perfect vehicle for the smooth and creamy Nutella.
- Method - Like my Banana Coffee Cake Muffins, this recipe is so simple to make!
🧈 Ingredients
Here are the ingredients needed to make these banana and Nutella muffins.
Ingredient Notes
- Butter - This recipe calls for salted butter but you could easily substitute unsalted butter with ¼ teaspoon of salt added to the dry ingredients
- Flour - Simple all-purpose flour is all you need for this recipe. Or you could use half whole wheat or spelt flour, if desired, for additional fiber.
- Bananas - When it comes to banana bread and banana muffins, try to let the bananas get super ripe on the counter before making the recipe! More ripe = more sweet and flavorful.
- Nutella - I have only made this recipe with name-brand Nutella spread but I think it would work fine with other brands of chocolate hazelnut spread.
See the recipe card for the full list of ingredients with measurements.
📃 Instructions
Step 1: Cream together the softened butter and brown sugar. Add the mashed banana, eggs, and vanilla and continue mixing until incorporated. The mixture may look a little separated or seedy but that is okay.
Step 2: In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda.
Step 3: Add the combined dry ingredients and mix at low speed just until no streaks of flour remain. Do not overmix!
Step 4: Fill each muffin liner in a muffin tin half full with the prepared batter.
Step 5: Drop about 1 teaspoon of Nutella on top of the batter in each muffin liner.
Step 6: Top with the remaining batter, filling each liner almost to the top. Drop another teaspoon of Nutella on top and swirl through gently with a toothpick.
Bake in a 400℉ oven for 5 minutes before reducing the temperature to 350℉ for another 10-15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the muffin part comes out clean.

Soft and yummy. Doubled great but only used six large bananas. Also, cooked two muffin pans in the oven and took 20 minutes. Definitely couldn’t let them cool for 10 minutes and just ate them. 😂
