⭐️ Why You Need to Make This Recipe
- Buttery & Soft - These scones have a great soft texture.
- Fun & Pretty - With colorful sprinkles and yummy vanilla birthday cake flavor these scones are so exciting for adults and children alike!
- Flavorful & Yummy - The vanilla pudding mix and real vanilla extract add a wonderful vanilla flavor which pairs well with creamy white chocolate.
🧈 Ingredients
Here are the ingredients needed to make these fun white chocolate sprinkle scones.
- Vanilla Pudding Mix - A very odd ingredient for a scone recipe but the instant vanilla pudding brings in a ton of moisture and flavor. Kind of like how I add it to my White Chocolate Cranberry Lemon Cookies!
- Salted Butter - I use salted butter in my scone recipes but you could use unsalted butter with ½ teaspoon of salt added to the recipe.
- Sprinkles - Any color of sprinkles may be used but stick to the rod-style sprinkles that aren't super hard.
- White Chocolate - Chopped white chocolate or white chocolate chips may be used. If you don't like white chocolate, you could use milk, semisweet, or dark chocolate in its place.
- Milk - Any kind of milk would work but I usually use whole milk.
See the recipe card for the full list of ingredients with measurements.
📃 Instructions
Step 1: Whisk together the flour, instant vanilla pudding mix, and baking powder. Add the cold cubed butter.
Step 2: Cut the butter into the flour mixture using a pastry cutter, food processor, or clean hands until the pieces of butter are the size of peas.
Step 3: Add the white chocolate and sprinkles and stir to combine.
Step 4: Whisk together the milk, egg, and vanilla separately until well combined.
Step 5: Add the milk mixture to the bowl and mix until a shaggy dough forms. Turn onto a clean countertop and gently knead and press the dough until it comes together.
Step 6: Separate the dough into 3 equal disks around 3 inches in diameter and 1 ½ inches high. Cut each disk into quarters.
Step 7: Arrange the scones on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving room between each scone for them to spread.
Step 8: Bake in a preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until lightly golden. Let cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.
💡 Top Tip
Add additional white chocolate on top of the scones for a pretty and yummy garnish right after they come out of the oven. White chocolate will brown and burn on top of the scones if added before baking at 400℉.
❓ Recipe FAQs
They won't be as pretty, but you can leave out the sprinkles as they are only an add-in and not integral to the structure of the dough.
If you don't like white chocolate, you could use milk, semisweet, or dark chocolate in its place.
Store leftover scones in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. However, scones are best eaten fresh after baking or on the same day they were baked.
